This challenging course lies at the base of Scotts Bluff National Monument.
Holes 2 through 8 are part of the original 9 hole layout with wide, straight, tree-lined fairways. The fairways lead to medium-sized greens that have subtle built-in breaks.
The rest of the course was built in 1996 and features mounding, sand traps and water.
You can get a good view of the city of Scottsbluff from either the 3rd fairway or the 7th tee box.
The 3rd has "badlands" along the right side of the fairway. It is a scenic washed-out sand rock area that is part of the monument.
If you like golf with a view, get to Gering.

Directions from I-80: Take I-80 to Exit 20 (Kimball). Go north 45 miles on Hwy 71 to Country Club Road in Gering. Turn left and go about .4 miles to the entrance on your left.
